WBA featherweight champion Chris John will
defend his title on April 28 at the Challenge Stadium in Perth, Australia, against his former sparmate Jackson Asiku (22-3, 12 KOs), a Uganda-born Australian. The press release received by this correspondent is a little bit surprising, as John had been slated to defend his title in Macau, also in April. Asiku is reported as leaving Harry's Gym (John's gym which belongs to Craig Christian) in January this year. After leaving the gym, Asiku released some statements saying that he could defeat Chris John. "That's why we accept his challenge," said Christian on John's press release. John vs Asiku will be one half of a doubleheader along with hometown favorite Danny Green vs Hugo Hernan Garay of Argentina for WBA light heavyweight title.Monday, March 24 2008
