Indonesian Aswin Cabuy won a disputed split decision over Sam Colomban of Australia at the Istora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, Indonesia, on Tuesday night in a bizzare rumble for the welterweight WBF Asia Pacific title. The fight was a war in the first half, as both fighters fought aggresively. Colomban was knocked down in rounds three and seven, while Cabuy was also knocked down in the seventh. Running out of gas, Cabuy tried to maintain his lead in the last four rounds of the fight in all manners, including hugging (not clinching), butting, grappling, wrestling, kicking and even "Ashi Waza" (the Judo foot throwing technique) to take Colomban to the canvas. Colomban, who was frustrated with his opponent's way of fighting, protested to the referee M. Rois several times who only warned Cabuy without issuing any score deduction for the repeated faults. The judges scores were 116-114, 116-113 (Cabuy) and 113-116 (Colomban). After the score announcement, Colomban saluted the spectators in the stadium who respected his performance. In the other main fight, Indonesian slugger Bambang Rusiadi won the WBF Asia Pacific middleweight title via a TKO victory over Dechapon Suwanallert (Thailand). Indonesian promoter Turino Tidar in cooperation with two Englishmen Steve Pitt and Eamon Saddler of BSI Promotions staged this event
