PABA jr.lightweight champion Roy Mukhlis of Indonesia retained his title and added the WBO Continental belt by defeating Fernando Otic of the Philippines on Friday night (12/28) at TVRI Studio, Jakarta, Indonesia. Otic, a typical Filipino puncher, attacked Mukhlis from the first round, and he won big in the second round, when he landed big punches to the champion’s head. The 20-year-old Mukhlis, who is usually a stylish boxer, this time replied by fighting in close, making the fight interesting to watch. Mukhlis got his pace in round four, landing his best punches to the Otic’s face. In the middle of round five, Mukhlis’ right hook landed hard on the Filipino’s head, followed with several light punches, knocking down the Filipino bomber who left sitting on the canvas until the ten-count finished. After this fight, Mukhlis’ record became 17-2, 14 KOs, while Otic’s decreased to 9-3, 7 KOs.
