Former IBF and WBA minimumweight champion, Muhammad Rachman is heading his third world title belt at his 42 years of age. “I’m not Bernard Hopkins, but he is the inspiration for every body,” Rachman said. Rachman will stage the bout with his newly established promotion company, Muhammad Rachman’s Spirit at Jayapura City, Papua Province, which will take a 6-7 hours flight from Jakarta, the capitol of Indonesia. Angkotta seeks revenge in Mexico

#4 WBO bantamweight contender Angky Angkotta of Indonesia considers his loss to Jorge Arce on January 30, 2010 at Restaurante Arroyo in Mexico City to be controversial. “I abosorbed his strong punches, and he got exhausted in round seven, then he did the headbutt on purpose. I was injured on the temple, and the referee asked me to continue the bout, but the ring doctor insisted the referee to stop the fight,” Angkotta recalled from their first match which Arce won by technical decision. “I talked to Arce about a rematch, and he nodded. This is it!”

Muhammad Rachman (64-10-5, 33 KOs) who just sensationally won the WBA mini-flyweight title by KO in round nine over the defending champion Kwantai Sithmorseng (31-1-1, 17 KOs) was completely self-trained for the world championship fight. A former IBF champion in the same division, the 39-year-old Rachman proved that he’s still harder than a rock. He wakes up early at 4AM running as far as 10 KM (around 6 miles) on a soccer stadium near his home in Blitar, Indonesia, alone. “I run on the grass field, and I think it feels like a ring canvas,” said Rachman. After running he does routine physical training such as push-ups, sit-ups, etc. and still all alone. Chavez Elected to Hall of Fame‏‏

CANASTOTA, NY – DECEMBER 7, 2010 - The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum is pleased to announce Mexico’s legendary three-division champion Julio Cesar Chavez has been elected into the Hall of Fame.

“We’re very excited for Julio Cesar Chavez and the Hall of Fame is very much looking forward to honoring his many achievements with induction into the Hall of Fame,” said Executive Director Edward Brophy. “His accomplishments will be recognized during the annual Hall of Fame Induction Weekend set for June 9-12th.”

Over 20 events, including a golf tournament, banquet, parade and autograph card show, are planned. An impressive celebrity lineup of boxing greats of yesterday and today will attend this year’s Induction Weekend. Chavez will receive a gold Hall of Fame ring and a plaque with his biography and photograph will be on permanent display on the Hall of Fame Wall. The Official Enshrinement Ceremony will be held on the Hall of Fame Museum Grounds in Canastota, NY, USA on Sunday, June 12th.

Born July 12, 1962, Chavez turned pro in 1980. Undefeated at 43-0, he stopped Mario Martinez (KO 8) in 1984 for the WBC super featherweight title. Nine successful defenses followed before beating Edwin Rosario (TKO 11) for the WBA lightweight title in 1987. He added the WBC version with a win over Jose Luis Ramirez (TW 11) in 1988. Chavez became a three-division world champion when he won the WBC junior welterweight crown from Roger Mayweather (TKO 10) in 1989. His impressive string of 12 title defenses included wins over Hector Camacho and Greg Haugen in front of a record crowd of 132,274 fans and, in 1990, he stopped IBF king Meldrick Taylor with 2 seconds left in the fight to unify titles. Chavez moved up in weight and drew with WBC welterweight champion Pernell Whitaker in a 1993 title go. After compiling an 89-0-1 record, he lost the WBC junior welter title to Frankie Randall in 1994 (L 12). He reclaimed the title in the rematch (TW 8) and reigned until losing to Oscar De La Hoya in 1996 (TKO by 4). Chavez retired in 2005 with a professional record of 107-6-2 (88 KOs). During his career, he registered wins over Ruben Castillo, Sammy Fuentes, Rocky Lockridge, Juan LaPorte, Tony Lopez and Joey Gamache. Possessor of a great chin, Chavez used a relentless, aggressive style and vicious body attack to became a national hero in Mexico and one of the most popular fighters in history.

Other living honorees include junior welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu, heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain, referee Joe Cortez and screenwriter Sylvester Stallone.

The Hall of Fame also released names of posthumous honorees: bantamweight Memphis Pal Moore, light heavyweight champion Jack Root and welterweight and middleweight Dave Shade in the Old-Timer Category; promoter A.F. Bettinson in the Non-Participant Category; broadcaster Harry Carpenter in the Observer Category; and John Gully in the Pioneer Category. Inductees were voted in by members of the Boxing Writers Association and a panel of international boxing historians.

Seran, Leitedena, Amol victorious

Three Indonesian boxers, Tommy Seran, Isack “Junior” Leitedena and Heri Amol outpointed their opponents on Saturday in their hometown of Kupang, Indonesia, small city in the eastern part of the country where international boxing events rarely take place. Seran (17-1, 9 KOs) retained his WBO interim light flyweight title by defeating Jayson Rotoni (11-7-1, 6 KOs) of the Phillipines by a unanimous decision. Isack “Junior” Leitedena (15-0-2, 7 KOs) also retained his interim WBO Asia Pacific super flyweight title by defeating Elmar Fransisco (Philippines, 11-11-1, 2 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision. In the main event, Heri Amol (28-11-3, 11 KOs) grabbed the vacant WBO Asia Pacific minimumweight title after defeating another Filipino Mating Kilakil (14-6-4, 5 KOs), also by unanimous decision in a 12 round bout. Mayol vs Nino II

To become a champion, Rodel Mayol took no shortcuts. He bled, cried and poured out an immeasurable amount of sweat to get where he is right now- and that is the WBC world light flyweight king.But even as the champion, Mayol is still fighting as if he's the underdog. His last four fights, all with world title belts on the line, have been on enemy territory- something the gutsy and seasoned pro Mayol relishes.

"I have a lot of experience fighting out of my hometown- Japan, Indonesia, Mexico- so I've been fighting there in my opponents' hometown so it doesn't matter to me what town it is. I just focus on the fight," Mayol told Examiner collegue Brad Cooney back in August '09 prior to his title fight and rematch against Ivan Calderon in Puerto Rico. On June 19, Mayol will be playing a familiar role when he defends his title against Mexican challenger Omar Nino Romero in Queretaro, Mexico after their controversial fight last February that ended in a technical draw.

Mayol was tagged with illegal punches by Romero that night and after getting hit by a low blow, was knocked out cold by a punch to the jaw before the referee could step in and intervene.Mayol is fast becoming a 'road warrior' as much as he has been fighting away from home comforts in the last two years. And as much as he wants to get a fight in his home turf as the champion, Mayol is not one to back down from any fight or any challenge. This is after all nothing compared to the obstacles he's already surpassed earlier in his career.

Consternation in the WBC Due to the Passing Away of Edwin Valero

Jose Sulaiman, World Boxing Council President, and all the members of the organization, are deeply saddened, moved and in sorrow due to the tragedy that took place regarding the case of WBC Lightweight world champion, Edwin Valero, who committed suicide in his cell after having killed his wife.

Edwin Valero will remain in the 300 years of history of boxing as the only boxer who as a world champion had a professional career of 27 knockouts in 27 fights for a 100% of KO´s; Vitali Klitschko is second to him, with a 97.1%.

Valero was very close to the World Boxing Council President and many of its members, who witnessed the happy years of the fighter when he won his Lightweight world title on April 4th, 2009, and when he defended such title last February 6th, in Monterrey, where he was joined by his wife and two little children for two weeks, showing a behavior and a humanitarian sense that were very far from what happened.

The World Boxing Council declares today, April 19th, 2010, a day of world mourning, as well as it informs that the organization will begin analyzing a plan to set up a way in the creation of a fund for the education of his two little children, who were left alone in life after the passing away of both of their parents.

WBA Super World Featherweight Champion, Chris “The Dragon” John (43-0-2) after an over 2 year hiatus in his native land of Indonesia, John returns home after public demand and will face 29 year old Argentinian, Fernando “El Vasco” Saucedo (38-4-2).

Chris John having previously fought Hiroyuki Enoki in Japan 2008 and Rocky Juarez twice in Texas and Nevada respectively in 2009 is excited at the prospect of returning home. Chris John, most recently defended his WBA Super World Featherweight title against Rocky Juarez by convincing decesion in September of 2009 as part of Mayweather vs Marquez card.

Fernando Saucedo of Argentina has a winning streak dating back nearly 6 years to 2004, losing by decision to Brazilian Acelino “Popo” Freitus in his hometown of Brazil.

The event will be on the 22^nd of May in Bali, Indonesia and one of the Executives of Golden Boy promotions will be in attendance.
